“When we are ill, we may be suffering. When we suffer, we may feel ill. I am passionate about finding a route for anyone who wants a way out of the maze"

Sumudu Godagama is a complementary practitioner with training in Osteopathy, Ayurvedic Medicine, Panchakarma Therapy, Reiki, Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Born in Colombo Sri Lanka, Sumudu spent many months traveling between the UK and the East. Frequent visits to her birthplace have given her valuable insight into the treasures of both cultures and medical practices.
Since she can remember, Sumudu was always exposed to patients coming in and out of her home, greeting them with a smile or offering refreshment was second nature. However, it were the subtle observations which captured her attention; a patient would arrive with sadness, fear or apprehension and leave uplifted, renewed, and empowered…there was something occurring in between which was bringing about a positive and lasting change. Such exposures fed a desire to understand the wisdom which allowed people to heal from within. Her curiosities ultimately led her to the door of the most ancient and clever mind body medicine (and what was literally right on her doorstep) - Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine.
Sumudu first joined holistic medicine aged 16, as a receptionist at her father’s (Dr Shantha Godagama) busy Ayurvedic and Acupuncture clinics. Taking care of patients in the waiting room were her core duties, which included listening to their stories and testimonials. Alongside her innate ability to empathise as well as feel naturally comfortable around patients, Sumudu felt it was in her own nature to follow the same path as her father. Growing up in such a healing environment eventually led to an explorative interest into the nature and art of healing.
Sumudu received her training at leading schools such as BCOM (British College of Osteopathic Medicine), LCTA (London College of Traditional Acupuncture), and with world experts such as the late Professor Anton Jayasuriya, Dr Pilapitiya and last but not least her master, mentor and father Dr Shantha Godagama, who pioneered the arrival of Ayurveda to the United Kingdom through his efforts as the Founder and President of The Ayurvedic Medical Association, UK, (through which the College of Ayurveda was inaugurated) and as the author of “The Handbook of Ayurveda”. Her father is currently working with the Department of Health on regulation and licensing of herbal products in the UK and speaks as the expert representative of ayurveda during regular board meetings.
In December 2004 Sumudu spent time working on a voluntary basis at Kalubowila Hospital, (Colombo, Sri Lanka) under the supervision of Prof. Jayasuriya. During this time she was treating acute and severe conditions such as malaria, dengue, elephantitis, tuberculosis and pneumonia as a trainee student. Having had the opportunity to treat a range of illnesses in Sri Lanka whilst also being exposed to the devastating effects of the asian tsunami, was an experience which changed her life on a personal and professional level. As a result, her inspiration and passion for healing has grown exponentially.
Sumudu now runs a successful Panchakarma Clinic (Ayurveda’s mantra for detoxification) at The Hale Clinic and an Acupuncture practice in Watford and Stanmore. Following in her father’s steps, Sumudu continues the art and traditions of Ayurveda, whereby the master’s knowledge and skill is passed down from one generation to the next.
Practicing Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine, this father and daughter medical team work hand in hand to devise bespoke treatment plans which target today’s growing health concerns.
During consultation Sumudu explores the manacles which limit your potential for wellbeing. Through inquiry into your history, lifestyle, diet, thought processes and acute and chronic stressors your energetic constitution is revealed, from which stem the tailored and personalised methods used during all her treatments.
